The creative arts.

Our God is a creative God – just study His creation for a small amount of time and you will see colour, design, clever ideas and sheer beauty.  The Creative Arts give our students a chance to show what they can do too and I believe should be encouraged in terms of a balanced curriculum offered in our school.

This term, we have introduced art classes for years 5 & 6 organized by Mr Roland Nutley who is employed in our Out of School Hours Facility.  The classroom teacher also attends with the students when it is their class time.  Alongside our Performing Arts program and other opportunities for drama in the classroom, the art classes enhance the students’ creativity and also gives them an outlet for their self-expression.

I’m sure the popularity of the painting classes organized for adults which are springing up in all areas taps into the need for humans to express themselves artistically.  To use colour, paint and design is a joy and I particularly enjoy visiting the art classes as I walk around the school and watch the students participating joyfully in the activities Mr Nutley organizes.

CALENDAR UPDATES

A reminder we have extended our term school days this year due to our late start to the year.

ABOUT PLAYGROUP

Kicking off in 2022 we were very excited to have our playgroup up and running.

With small group sizes, a large classroom and play areas for our little ones, playgroup is able to go ahead. There are so many families out there wanting to connect and enjoy a fun activity with their child and other Mums, Dads and Carers so we are very happy that our playgroup can be offered for you. These class sessions are a great way to connect with your child and other families. Each week the children will be engaging in fun and exciting music and activities that are specifically designed to stimulate their senses through movement and music, crafts and arts and sensory play.

Karlien is running the sensory music and movement playgroup sessions each week. She has a wealth of experience working with young children! Karlien has previously ran her own family daycare and after having her two beautiful children she looked for something she could do that would work with her young family but still be something she loved.

Karlien runs the Maggie Moo Music North Brisbane sessions. She fell in love with the music and sensory classes and absolutely loves hosting these for families. They are such a great way to connect with not only your child, but also other Mums, Dads, Carers, Grandparents etc.
We can’t wait for you to meet Karlien and come sing some songs and dance with us!
