EARLY DEPARTURES & APPOINTMENTS

We know how busy our families are. If you have an appointment for your child and need to collect them during school time, please prearrange the pick up with reception to avoid lengthy waiting periods.  07 3283 0011.

Our lunch times are from 10:20am – 11:10am and 1:10pm- 1:50pm. If you child needs to be collected during the lunch breaks, they will need to be prearranged in the mornings to ensure we can have them ready in the office.

Junior Swimming Celebration – Monday 7th November

Junior Swimming Celebration: Dear parents, Just under three weeks until our Junior Swimming Celebration Carnival! This is a half-day carnival where students engage in fun activities at the Deception Bay Aquatic Centre. This day is aimed at celebrating the skills and abilities that our Prep – Year 3 students (8-year-olds only) have developed during their swimming lessons across the 2022 school year. In order for your child to attend, there is an online permission form that will need to be filled out. Permission Form Link:

Senior Swimming Carnival – Friday 11th November

This is a full-day carnival that will be occurring at the Redcliffe War Memorial Pool. This day is aimed at showcasing student aquatic talents in a fun carnival environment. Students are encouraged to wear their house colours and cheer on their team throughout the whole day. There are two permission forms required to be filled out in order for your child to attend. This includes a bus permission form and student race Nomination form.

SRV Baseball Australia

GLPS Students will be introduced to a new program in PE thanks to SRV Baseball Australia! In this program, students are introduced to the basics of baseball and softball through engaging in skill development drills and engaging in a game known as Rally Cap Baseball. The Rally Cap program is run by fully accredited coaches who have many years experience in baseball with the main aim to have fun while learning the basic skills of hitting, throwing, fielding and general athletic movement.

One of the reasons I love working with children is the joy they can bring into the lives of the adults they work with.  Regularly as I walk about the school, I will find pockets of children giggling or laughing.  Sometimes I hear it from the student reception as they students rush in to tell the office staff a funny thing that happened in the school yard.  Relationships are really important in our school work but it’s easy to make good connections with children at Grace when they come from such nurturing and caring families.

When speaking with students, I am always excited to hear about things you do as families.  It’s in the simple things that there is much joy to be discovered.  Picking strawberries (and eating them as you go), going on walks in the bush or on the beach or near a waterfall, visiting grandparents and playing games together as a family are always highlights in students’ chatter.  Families and when I say that I acknowledge that there are many different ways a family can be, can seek beauty and truth and joy and I know our school community regularly does this, because I hear the stories of the children as I move about the school and chat with various students.

A bible verse I dwell on in my life is

Phillippians 4:9

Finally, friends, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable – if anything is excellent or praiseworthy; think about such things.

Of course, our lives are not always as we expect them to be, there’s ups and downs, but when I am feeling under pressure or perhaps even attack, I go back to this scripture and I dwell on all the good which is in our school and our world and I am always heartened.

For the Lutherans amongst us, Sunday, October 30 is Reformation Sunday where the birth of the church is celebrated.  The beginnings occurred on October, 31 1517.  It is a time when we can reflect on the good, the true, that right things in our community and be thankful for our God whose hand is always evident in everything that happens in our world.  Happy Reformation Sunday to all our Lutheran friends.

The Centre is staffed by qualified Early Learning specialists and will operate under the same Lutheran Christian philosophy as Grace Lutheran Primary School. The ELC program incorporates a mix of high-quality care, play and activity-based learning to harness a child’s natural curiosity and creativity in a Christian environment. Children gain much comfort in having structures, routines and preparation for primary school because of the close relationship between the ELC and Grace Lutheran Primary School.
