Welcome to 2021

Welcome Back Grace Primary

It’s been lovely to see those big smiles and the joy of laughter.  Special welcome to our new families.

Welcome to our New Staff and Returning Staff

Welcome Mrs Williamson – Year 6 Teacher
I am delighted to join the Grace team and look forward to teaching in Year 6 providing them with many exciting opportunities to celebrate. This is an exciting year at Grace as we celebrate its 50th birthday and it’s going to be filled with amazing opportunities. Outside of the classroom, I love spending time with my husband and two young girls, camping, baking and sewing. I feel very blessed by the staff and students at Grace and look forward to building on those relationships.

Welcome Mrs Porter – Year 6 Teacher
I am so excited to be teaching here at Grace Lutheran Primary School. Being a Redcliffe girl, it feels great to be back on the Peninsula. This is my 6th year of teaching, and I’m ecstatic to continue teaching in the upper years. Outside of teaching, I’m an avid sports fan. I play, umpire and coach netball! I also thoroughly enjoy watching basketball, footy and cricket!

Welcome Mrs Dent-Fitzpatrick – Teacher Aide
I am very happy to be working as a Teacher Aide within such a wonderful school community this year. I bring with me many years’ experience working with youth who have learning difficulties and require extra support. I look forward to assisting students to move forward in their learning journeys.  My favourite leisure activities include art and craft, music, gardening and sightseeing.

Welcome Mrs Mediratta – Prep Assistant
I am a new Prep Teacher Aide and I am super excited to be a part of the Grace team.  Prior to this job, I worked as a lead educator with one of the C&K Early Childhood Centres.  I love children and feel blessed to gain over 10 years of experience working with them. I believe it’s a very rewarding career to see students learn and flourish to reach their potential. Outside of work, I enjoy yoga, cooking, and spending time with my family and friends.  I would like to say a big thank you to the Grace team for the warm welcome. I am so looking forward to assisting the teacher in creating an inspiring classroom for little confident learners.

Welcome Back Mrs Marks – PE Teacher
Hi wonderful Grace Community! Most of you would know me, but for those of you who don’t yet, I am Mrs Marks and this year I am teaching Physical Education to all students in Prep – Year 6. I am beyond excited for this new role as I am very passionate about sport and physical education. I have been on maternity leave for the past 20 months and I’m super excited to be back in the Grace Community once again. My family enjoys spending our weekends outdoors at the beach, parks, playgrounds or playing sports. Looking forward to an active and awesome 2021!

Welcome Back!

What a fantastic start we have had to the 50th year of Grace Lutheran Primary School. It was a delight to have parents free to access our site again this year and we hope that with continued diligence by our State and Federal Governments our Covid restrictions will be minimal this year. Parents, social distancing is required when you are on site and we warmly remind you of this protocol as we begin another school year.

Our largest Prep enrolment for many years has brought much joy and laughter to our campus. The students are already little sponges soaking up all school has to offer and we are grateful for their curious minds keeping us all alert too.

In 2021 we enrolled 27 new students from Years 1 – 6 and we welcome these families to our school community too. As we go around checking in on the students, all seemed to have settled well and are enjoying our friendly school community.

Our mission statement at Grace Lutheran Primary School is three words -:
“Engage, Educate, Excite.”

The work I see all staff do on a daily basis reflects these words and we continue to refine and improve programs to include this intent. Annually I challenge staff with a theme too and this year, to honour our 50th anniversary, our staff are “Celebrating the Opportunities” at Grace. We are respectful of our past but we also want to open our thinking to what each child’s potential is at Grace in terms of their social wellbeing and also their academic progress.

Last year, in our school satisfaction survey, the parent body told us that they like our sense of community, our outstanding teachers and the co-curricular offerings at Grace. Parents also told us that our iPad program needs reviewing and we will be doing this out of respect for the parent feedback and our need to ensure we are protecting our students but also growing their digital capabilities in this modern era.

I would like to thank all families for their support of our work at Grace and I look forward to a wonderful year of 50th anniversary celebrations as we explore our history, celebrate our achievements and then dream together what our school should be in the upcoming 50 years! We have many events planned and they are listed on our website so mark your diaries for some child focused, family focused and parent focused events throughout the year.

2021 Is A Twilight Carnival Year!

Mark your diaries if you haven’t already – our 50th anniversary Twilight Carnival (school fete with a twist) will be on Friday 30 April from 3:30pm to 7:30pm. It’s a ‘gold & glitter’ theme to celebrate 50 years of Grace Lutheran Primary School, so there will be lots of fun to be had!

Only 3 Months away so we need you NOW!
The team has assessed the current covid climate and made the decision to press on and organise our inaugural Twilight Carnival @ GLPS. We hope all families can help in some way as it takes a team to pull a special event like this together.

As we have a school fete biannually, we really want to pull everyone together in our community for this significant school community and fundraising event to make it super special and a big success. With this in mind, we are asking all our families to consider helping out in some way, whether it be:
• Sponsoring the event
• Offering a raffle/cent auction prize donation
• Helping on a stall
• Helping with the set up and pack down.

Please let us know asap how you can help. With regards to donations, if you run a business or know someone who runs a local business that would like to support our cent auction, we would be most grateful to receive items or vouchers to make up our prizes. If you would like to sponsor, support or donate prizes to our Carnival, please contact us on events@glps.qld.edu.au

Your teachers will be in contact soon seeking volunteers to help out. Please see below a list of all the exciting stalls and activities we have in stall this year! Here’s what each Year Level/Department is working on for the Carnival:
