Term 3 Parent Teacher Conferences

Parents and teachers will soon be coming together for Term 3 Parent Teacher Conferences. Conference dates are Tuesday 14 September (between 3:30 – 7:00pm) and Wednesday 15 September (between 3:30 – 7:00pm).

All families are encouraged to make an appointment with their child’s class teacher. Appointments for conferences need to be made online via Parent Lounge in Whole School Communication. More information about Parent Teacher Conferences can be found in a letter to families that has been uploaded to Parent Lounge and Seesaw.

When attending conferences, parents are asked to:

  • Wear a face mask
  • Socially distance yourself with 1.5m with people that are not part of your household
  • Stay at home if you or a family member is unwell (call Reception if you are not able to make your appointment time, and the class teacher will contact you to arrange a new meeting time for when you are feeling better)
  • Apply hand sanitizer – sanitizer stations will be dotted around the school

Usually Mrs Moala does the Principal’s page for Ripples. Today as there are two governance announcements, our guest author is Mr Garth Hunt, Chairman of the School Council.

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Greetings and blessings to each member of our Grace Lutheran Primary School community.  On behalf of the School Council, I would like to share two important announcements with you.

Mrs Moala to continue as Principal.

Council is very pleased to announce that Mrs Moala has accepted our invitation to continue to lead Grace Lutheran Primary School into the future.

Earlier this year many members of our community contributed to the appraisal process of our Principal, Mrs Moala. This process is good practice and helps to identify areas where the community recognises strengths in leading the school, and opportunities for ongoing growth and development.

I particularly thank parents for taking the time to complete this for us. The number of parent responses was very high, and the qualitative responses provided valuable insight for us.

The Non-State Schools Accreditation Board have advised the District Church Board that our accreditation will continue for a further five years.

The final part of this cyclical accreditation process was the school’s presentation to a panel consisting of an independent educator, the Executive Director of LEQ, two school parents, senior members of the school leadership team and myself. I learned much from the practical examples of school quality that were presented and even more from the two parents who spoke openly about their experiences as parents of the school and the educational experiences of their children.

The independent educator (who acts an evaluator in the process) said in an email: I really enjoyed being a part of this process and witnessing the fantastic achievements of your school. There certainly are great things happening at Grace.

Thank you to all members of the school community for your continuing contribution to the quality of education at Grace.

We would appreciate your assistance with this.

BAYSIDE COMMUNITY CARE – Food Hampers

Our focus for Chapel offering this term is the Bayside Community Care. BCC is run by Grace Lutheran Church volunteers who make up hampers for families needing support in the Redcliffe area.

From Monday 23 August – Thursday 9 September (Weeks 7-9), each class will be given a basket to fill with specific hamper items.

PLEASE ONLY bring in the follow food items to fill the classroom baskets. It is really helpful if the items have been newly purchased to ensure that the ‘use by date’ does not expire within a short time.

The HAMPER ITEMS are:

Students can also donate a gold coin so that perishable items (bread, margarine and butter) can be purchased to ensure that the hampers are complete and ready with fresh items.

Your help to support this valuable and needs service is greatly appreciated.
