A new school year!

A welcome to all families as we start a new year together at Grace Primary. As I mentioned in my welcome video loaded to See-Saw, there are 21 new students from years 1 – 6 and 72 new Preps in our school this year. We warmly welcome all new families to our school many of whom are from interstate and overseas having decided that the Redcliffe Peninsula is the most beautiful and family friendly place to live in Australia. We have now capped enrolments in Years 4 and 5 for 2 years as they move through the school because we are looking into providing new learning spaces to be able to expand back to 3 classes in each year level soon. Families who have been here for a while will know we have expanded our license numbers for GOSHC to 150 students per session due to demand which has meant they took over 3 classrooms to accommodate the large numbers of students attending this fantastic service before and after school and also at Vacation Care time.

Since our students returned, I have visited each classroom each day and even though we had a disrupted start to the year, I have been really impressed with how settled and engaged our students are already. I think they were ready to come back to school! At Grace, one of the things we talk about with staff regularly is that we expect our students to step up and achieve in their own right so although teachers do a lot of preparation and support, we do expect students to ‘have a go’ and work out their school world without too much interference from staff. Daily, students will show us growth under this model of teacher instruction and from our Prep students to our Year 6 leaders, we see students demonstrating how competent they are as they work with their academic and social activities.

This year we do have some changed supervision areas for before school. Students (except for early bus students or students enrolled in a Performing Arts activity or GOSHC) should not be on campus unattended prior to 8:00a.m. From this time, students can put their bag by the toilet area and the Years Prep – 3 can play in the Junior oval and Years 4 – 6 can go to the Dalton Oval for fun games. We appreciate any families who can delay arriving at school prior to 8:15a.m. when students can go straight to class as this helps with the large numbers of students arriving early at school. Teachers are in a morning briefing and devotions at 8:00a.m. and begin supervision in classrooms at 8:15a.m. Only some staff are on duty to watch the early students so your support in coming after 8:15a.m. is appreciated.

Child Protection Policy

Parents are reminded that Child Safety is very important in our community and Grace Primary has a policy which I will remind you about from time to time. It is located on our website. If you have any concerns about the welfare of a child in our community, please do not hesitate to talk with me or Kathy Stock about your concerns.

If you would like to read the policy a link is supplied here for your convenience.

Looking forward to a wonderful year!

“Hi Everyone!

For those of you who don’t know me, I’m Paris Marks and I am in a new role this year at Grace Primary. My role is a bit of everything so we will definitely cross paths at some point this year. Until our new parent reps are organised, I am on this page to help answer questions in regard to student events etc if I can or I will point you in the right direction if I can’t.

My main roles this year are student events co-ordinator, camp co-ordinator, sports assistant and I am helping out with the brand new playgroup starting in week one! If you have a question at any time feel free to @ me or send me an email at parismarks@glps.qld.edu.au

I look forward to seeing all our wonderful students next week and I’m so excited to be helping plan all the FUN events for our students in 2022!!

If you have any children who are younger than school-aged who are interested in joining our playgroup please share the information with them or link them to our page “Grace Primary Playgroup.” It is open to anyone in the community so if you know of anyone looking for a sensory playgroup class please share the information with them.”

ABOUT PLAYGROUP

Kicking off on Thursday 10th February we are excited to have our playgroup up and running.

With small group sizes, a large classroom and play areas for our little ones, playgroup is able to go ahead. There are so many families out there wanting to connect and enjoy a fun activity with their child and other Mums, Dads and Carers so we are very happy that our playgroup can be offered for you. These class sessions are a great way to connect with your child and other families. Each week the children will be engaging in fun and exciting music and activities that are specifically designed to stimulate their senses through movement and music, crafts and arts and sensory play.

Secondly, you asked… and we listened! Because it is the first time we are offering this brand new playgroup and because of the uncertainty parents are feeling with covid, we are now offering a 3 class pack! This means you can purchase a 3 class pack that can be used across any of the 8 weeks of our first term of classes. All you need to do is provide us with 48 hours notice to book in to ensure that there are spaces left for you and your child.
Here are our Term 1 specials:
Full Term Pass (8 weeks due to the shortened term) = $140
Second sibling half price = ($70)
OR
3 x class pack = $59
Second sibling half price =$29.50
If you purchase the 3 x class pack at the start of term and would like to purchase another for the remainder of the term this is an option too!
We hope to see you next Thursday!
*Please note, spaces are strictly limited so bookings will close once we have reached capacity!

INTRODUCING KARLIEN

We are very excited to introduce to you the amazing educator who will be running the sensory music and movement playgroup sessions each week!! Karlien has a wealth of experience working with young children. She previously ran her own family daycare and after having her two beautiful children she looked for something she could do that would work with her young family but still be something she loved.

Karlien runs the Maggie Moo Music North Brisbane sessions. She fell in love with the music and sensory classes and absolutely loves hosting these for families. They are such a great way to connect with not only your child, but also other Mums, Dads, Carers, Grandparents etc.
We can’t wait for you to meet Karlien and come sing some songs and dance with us!
