Parent access to our site
As per my letter which went on Tuesday, parents are now able to access our school site in the morning and afternoon under the following conditions
- 1.5m social distancing must occur at all times
- No access to classrooms or upstairs areas
- No access to Prep classrooms (just verandahs)
- No access (unless invited) to Chapels and Assemblies
Please come in in the mornings and afternoons though and we won’t be hurrying you off site. In the afternoons, we remind you that if you have collected your child, he/she is under your responsibility and we ask that you keep your child/ren close to you and not running over the seats or in the waiting area as we are clearing many students and the safety of all must be the number one priority. The staff duty ceases at 3:30p.m. and everyone must be clear of the school site by then but we will not be hurrying you off site as we used to under previous restrictions.
If you want a 1:1 parent teacher interview with your child’s teacher this must be prearranged by email or phone call and the teacher will set up the interview space so that social distancing is occurring.
As an aside, all staff were briefed today about increasing hand washing due to Health Department notifications in relation to a Gastro breakout mainly on the Gold Coast at the moment. All students will be asked to wash hands regularly through the next few days of term. If you are called to take your child home due to a suspected Gastro infection, we ask that you come as soon as possible to minimize community transmission amongst our students.
Welcome back to Grace all our families – I hope you might take the time to have a coffee at Charis in the mornings and enjoy the community we treasure so much at Grace for the last few days of term. It is our hope that all restrictions will be lifted by 2021 and we can welcome you into classrooms as we used to do before a pandemic hit our world in March.
2021 Fee Schedule
Fee schedule for 2021 is now available on our Website (here) as well as our 2021 Term dates.
Christmas wishes
I know for many families this year, there will be separation for Christmas from loved ones. Borders have been opened in Australia and we all rejoice for this but many of us have family overseas and we won’t be able to see them this year. Thankfully there is wonderful technology nowadays meaning our loved ones’ faces can be clear as we chat over the kilometres of water which separates us. My heart goes out to anyone who cannot celebrate Christmas with a family member or special friend this year due to the Australian border restrictions but I do stand in awe of our Federal and State Government and the wonderful work they have done to minimize community transmission of the Covid-19 virus. This doesn’t come without community cooperation and as I speak with my daughter in London, my relatives in the Pacific Islands and my friends in Canada and the United States, I feel really proud to be an Australian and how well we have fared through this time.
May God bless your family at this Christmas season and I look forward to seeing all our families return in 2021 – our 50th Golden Anniversary of Grace Lutheran Primary School.

A BIG THANK YOU TO OUR 2020 PARENT REP TEAM
This year we had 26 wonderful Parent Reps at Grace Primary who helped keep all our families up to date on everything happening at school, which was no mean feat in a Covid 19 year where families were unable to come on campus for an extended period. From everyone at Grace we thank you for taking on this key role with care, commitment and passion for our school community and it’s beautiful students and have appreciated your efforts and involvement through events and class celebrations, weekly text and Facebook year level page updates, as well as all the social gatherings we have been allowed to have during this Covid time. I’m glad we had the opportunity last week to celebrate the team’s achievements for 2020. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Next Year
If you would like to be part of our 2021 Parent Rep team please email us on events@glps.qld.edu.au. I’m sure you’ll find it a rewarding and heartwarming experience and one which our team and the entire school community is certainly grateful for.

Pastor’s Message

Happy New Year!
At this time of year, many organisations are preparing for ‘end of year events’. People are planning for ‘holidays’. For many people, this is an exciting time of year as we look forward to spending time with family and friends, and taking a break from work. They are also rejoicing in various transitions that may be occurring (including students completing a year of school). But for some people this can be a stressful time of year. School holidays can be a difficult time for parents, especially working parents.
One of the ways to bring blessings into these time of school holidays is to plan for what may lie ahead. Perhaps print out a simple calendar, and talk together as a family about what may lie ahead. Involve one another in decision making. Be honest and realistic about those things that still need to be done (including ‘work’), setting healthy expectations. But also be adventurous and seek to have fun.
As you prepare for these holidays, remember also the reason for this season. We are preparing for Christmas. Beginning this Sunday, many Christian Churches around the world begin the season known as ‘Advent’. This is a time of preparing for Christmas. Many people will also set out an Advent wreath, placing four or five candles within the wreath, and reflect on the theme of ‘Hope’, ‘Peace’, ‘Joy’, and ‘Love’ (and for an Advent Devotional Resource (Click here). In the end, the real reason for ‘Christmas Holidays’ are the ‘holy days’ surrounding the celebration of the birth of Jesus.
It is my prayer that in the various transitions you may experience at this time, that you also have a sense of hope, peace, joy, and love that comes from celebrating the birth of Christ. May God grant you a blessed and safe holiday as you celebrate in these holy days.
Christmas Worship
Please note that Grace Lutheran Congregation will celebrate Christmas in worship on 24th December, 7pm, at Grace Lutheran College Chapel. There will also be a Carols and Readings with Holy Communion on 24th December 11pm (with Holy Communion) at the Church Building on Maine Road, with our Christmas Service on 25th December, 8:30 am (with Holy Communion).
Blessings and peace in Christ.
