Father’s Day Stall

To all our Dad’s wishing you a wonderful Father’s Day.

I hope you are looking forward to receiving a little something from our Father’s Day Stall.  Thank you Bec Crew and her team of helpers for another great stall.  The children are always so excited to purchase something for their special dad or Grandad.

Drop Off With Dad – What a wonderful morning

What a fantastic morning at Grace Primary! Thank you to so many Dads for coming along to drop off their child or children today. Thank you to Kindred for bringing along Petero Civinoceva to throw the ball about with dads and students on the oval. We all enjoyed a bacon and egg roll and a coffee or hot drink from our new Café Charis which is now open for business! Happy Fathers’ Day to all our dads!

End of Year Events

I am very much looking forward to our musical this year, The Wizard of Oz which will be performed on Friday, 9 and Saturday 10 October. This major event will be spectacular and a credit to the students who have trained hard to perform at a very high standard. The Covid pandemic has very much affected our end of year events this year but I hope my advising you now will help you make plans also.

  1. Year 6 Graduation. This will be held at the College Chapel on Monday, 30 November. There will be limited numbers and I will discuss the attendance with the families of the Year 6 students via letter. There will be no Year 6 dinner after the event.
  2. Carols 2020. We will not be hosting our annual carols event this year. We cannot plan far enough ahead and be sure of performances due to the restrictions which are in place at the moment. To replace this, we will be having a last day of school fun event for all students with Year 6 students heading out for a day of fun off site and for Years Prep to Five fun Christmas activities at school.

Uniform

Our new uniform is looking really smart and even though there have been some supply issues due to the Covid-19 pandemic affecting supply of some fabric coming into Australia, the Uniform Shop has now advised that all sizes of jackets are now in stock, sport shorts are due end of September and the rugby jerseys are due mid-October. From term 4, other than uniform jackets will not be acceptable to be worn at school.

A reminder to families that by 2021, all students must be in the new uniform (except 2021 Year 6 students). Also, a reminder that shoes must be completely black without motives and that girls are not permitted to wear tights with their uniform. If their legs are cold, parents are reminded they should be wearing the trousers with the dress uniform or tracksuit bottoms with the sport uniform.

To be ahead of things at the moment, UMS our uniform shop supplier has asked me to advise families that they are willing to take orders now for 2021 uniform items which will not have to be paid for until next year for continuing families. If you want to make an appointment with the uniform shop, please do so via the website and fit out your child for 2021 before the rush. UMS have advised they are willing to exchange or refund if the uniform item is not exactly correct for 2021 but pre-ordering is your best way of ensuring all uniform items for next year.

I appreciate the many families who ensure their children are smartly attired in our uniform. I think the new uniform is smart and attractive and all students are wearing it with pride.

Trivia Night Success

Thank you to Jo Forrest and Talluah Harper for heading up our Trivia Night event this year. It was a wonderful evening and we again acknowledge the support of Kindred and Pilpel Restaurants. There were many other sponsors and supporters for the evening including Sesame Lane Child Care Centres, Luke Howarth MP, Michael Hill Jewellers, Leisure Caravans, Caporn Piling, Athletes Foot, Skate Connection and Westpac. It was terrific to join together to enjoy each others’ company and be dazzled by the Trivia knowledge of some. All money raised at the event will be put into the pool fundraising account.

Charis Coffee Shop

We are delighted to announce the opening of Charis coffee shop on site at Grace Lutheran Primary School. We thank Kindred for their support of this venture. It was certainly a busy morning for their grand opening at the Fathers’ Day drop off morning.

From Monday, there is a small gate opposite the coffee shop (Parent Hub) and parents are welcome to come on site to purchase a coffee and then leave. If you purchase a hot chocolate or non-caffeinated drink for your child – he/she may sit outside the tuckshop and drink it but must be ready to go to class by 8:15a.m.

Charis Coffee Shop will be open from 7:00a.m. – 9:00a.m. each school day.
Staff who have tried a coffee already say it is DELICIOUS! We look forward to this being a lovely addition to our school especially when we can open up again and parents can also sit inside and have a morning coffee with us.

We live in a digital world, full of technology. The benefits are many; however, the internet can also be a scary and dangerous place. Please join us as Brett Lee, former Queensland Police Officer, informs and empowers parents to take control of technology, set rules and boundaries in the home whilst working hand in hand with teachers and educators. Brett will share simple, powerful and effective messages that are actionable to protect your children.
